January 2010 was globally the 4th hottest ever despite the cold snap

16 Feb

After the debacle that was Copenhagen, the stalling of vital emissions trading bills in both the US and Australia, the IPCC chaos, climate gate and the public’s cooling towards the man made climate change argument, there is plenty of sceptically suddenly appearing in regards to climate change.

On top of that, the UK, the USA and parts of Asia have had record low temperatures and record cold-snaps. This is has inevitably led to further questions about global warming. The answer to that question is two fold. Firstly, scientists have always suggested that climate change does what it says on the tin, changes climate. That includes record cold as well as record hot. Rush Limbaugh has been caught out stating that the record snows in the US North East are proof that climate change is bunk.

The table below from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the scientific arm of the US Department of Commerce shows the second answer to the question of “what global warming?” According to this info, Russia, the US North East and Northern Europe and the UK have had significantly below average temperatures, but clearly, the surface temperature almost everywhere else has suffered from significant above average heat. In fact from the data underneath the image shows that January was the 4th warmest January on record.

Basically, it shows that people such as Limbaugh have an incredibly localised viewpoint. While that is no surprise for people of his ilk, it is important that Governments highlight this to the wider population. Just because it is cold here, doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be abnormally hot somewhere else. Australia had record setting temperatures over the summer and it doesn’t take much to turn on the television and watch all of the warm weather that is severely hampering the Vancouver Winter Olympics at the moment.

    You’re an idiot.

Thanks for that Todd. You’re scientific support to your argument is amazing.

Is it Global Warming or Climate Change? The AGW model only supports Global Warming. So your uncertainty about the title shows your lack of belief in the AGW model.

So the climate changes, maybe BIG DEAL. Remember the predictions of another ice age coming in the 1970’s? Manmade global warming is a figment of your imagination.

The problem with NOAA’s claim of a record warm January is that their processes have been revealed to be flawed. We now know that they are extrapolating data for cooler regions instead of relying on actual data. California is having record snowfalls and cold temperatures, as well as British Columbia, Canada. I do not see that reflected in the Temperature Anomalies map for January.

I recognize that it is just my opinion, but I will have to see more data from more sources before I can accept that January 2010 was unusually warm from a global perspective.

Ok, how is this for scientific?

Extrapolating a conclusion from 30 years of satellite data. Talk about “localized data”.

Ignoring Geological records going back billions of years to support a predetermined conclusion that mankind is either A: responsible, or B: capable of preventing such trends.

Cherry picking data to specifically exclude warmer historical periods from comparison so that the data supports the conclusion. (Medieval warm period, Little Ice Age, or for that matter, any of the regular cyclical swings in geological history which waxes at +25c and wanes at +10c for global mean temps.) Need i mention we are at the low end (+13) of that cycle right now?

Stop showing us the “scientific” data that shows this as the warmest *anything* on record until you can show that in a graph that goes back at least 50,000 years… Since your data is claiming to show climatological trends, i should think you would want it to represent at least 1 microsecond on the geological clock, or is that most minor of standards too ‘hard’ to embrace?

Your motives and politics are in question. Your ‘science’ is weak. Your ‘scientists’ have proven themselves corrupted by money and the love of money. Trillions of monetary units have been wasted, squandered and stolen from the mouths of billions of dying people in the name of this neuvo-religious-sciencism.

There will be a reckoning at the end of all of this.

Temperature goes up = Climate Change
Temperature goes down = Climate Change
Record high temperature = Climate Change
Record low temperature = Climate Change
Rainfall goes up = Climate Change
Rainfall goes down = Climate Change
Colder in one place = Climate Change
Warmer in another place = Climate Change

At this rate you can’t lose!

    From the UK Express newspaper…

CLIMATE scientists yesterday stunned Britons suffering the coldest winter for 30 years by claiming last month was the hottest January the world has ever seen.

Hottest… 4th hottest… which one is it? I get most of my TV progs via satellite and like the data, they’re cr@p as well.

    Climate Change = Weather

    NOAA Weather Data = Corrupted
(you’ve seen these collection stations next to Air Conditioners, Taxiways, Asphalt, and moved onto roofs, right?)

Anthropogenic (man-made) Global Warming = Fraud

Carbon Cap & Trade = Global Ponzi Scheme

    IPCC = UN
(need I point out how many major reports, programs, and efforts through the UN have uncovered deceptive corruption, funding, and payoffs, in their never-ending search for a stand-alone global tax basis with no accountability? United Nations Convention on the Fraudulent Law of the Sea Treaty anyone?)

Any further Questions on why even the government-schooled masses are skeptical of the next sky-is-falling crisis intervention scam where the only recommendations are global taxation, centralization of power to governmental bodies, and reduction in standard of living for developed nations, while subsidizing uneconomical proposals and mortgaging their great-grandchildren’s futures?
    Anyone?

How about the ice caps melting? Is that enough to support global warming? And I do think people really don’t understand that the effect of global warming is not that everyone will experience warmer temps where they are. We don’t really know what the actual effect in each location will be. But there seems to be changes from what is normal in many areas (I haven’t done research to back this up, just generally seems to be this way)
